• Art: View and discuss the art of Albert Bierstadt and George Caleb Bingham and other artists who painted scenes of explorers, pioneers, and landscapes of the West.
• Music: Learn about musicians John Knowles Paine, Amy Beach, Maud Powell, and Scott Joplin. 
• Mapping: Map the trails of explorers and pioneers and the U.S. territories of the 1800s.

• Language Arts: Read and listen to some of the tall tales that originated in the United States during the 1800s.  
• History: Read stories about United States westward expansion.
• Science: Learn all about mammals and their characteristics.
• Math: Identify patterns, practice skip counting, and solve story problems that involve mathematical operations.
• Art/Handicrafts: Learn to draw a variety of animals. Learn the weaving techniques used by some Native American tribes.
