This 16 week study is a look at the United States during the 1800's (westward expansion, pioneers, Native Americans, etc.). It is geared towards youth ages 12–14 years old and is estimated to take about four hours a week to complete. This Investigation takes a unique look at history as the youth are mentored in finding faith and hope despite very difficult trials. Though the theme of the unit is historical in nature, the investigation also includes material and activities that help the learner also develop their understanding and skills in the following areas: language arts (the youth are mentored through the writing process), visual arts, music, scripture, and nature.
