Juliet Marino, the least crafty girl in her Crafty Girls Club, is determined to enter something-anything-into the Weaverton City Fair. But Juliet is a chef-in-training, and the fair doesn't have a category for best spaghetti sauce or bruschetta toppings. Juliet and her mother turn to an heirloom family recipe book for ideas. Cookies seem easy enough ¿ but when her more experienced mom is whisked away for a family emergency, Juliet is left to seek the help of her well-meaning, but not so helpful, neighbors, and she discovers that baking isn't as simple as it seems. No matter how many times she follows the old, handwritten recipe, the cookies are a catastrophe. They come out burnt, flat, or just plain wrong, and sadly, no one, not even her crafty friends, can figure out why. With time and ingredients running out, Juliet must uncover the truth about her cookies, her friends, and her own ability to keep trying, discovering a little kitchen chemistry along the way. Can she crack the cookie code before it's too late-or will her determination crumble under pressure?A warm, hopeful, heartfelt mystery about not giving up and finding your place, one batch at a time.
